Many of us have a sense of the books we think we ought to have read, such as classics like George Eliot’s Middlemarch or James Joyce’s Ulysses. However, the Big Book Review project is just as interested in hearing about the novels you read for the sheer joy of it. So we’re asking you to share your guilty reading pleasures with us.
At the Birmingham Literature Festival last weekend, we invited visitors to leave their reading confessions behind in our literary confessions box. We also asked a few brave volunteers to share their guilty reading pleasures on camera. Will they inspire you to reveal your own favourite comfort reads?
We’ll be bringing the confessions box on tour with us. You can catch us in Belfast’s Crescent Arts Centre this weekend, and add your own anonymous contribution. Or you can share your #GuiltyReadingPleasure on social media. It’s up to you.
(The literary confessions box is just for fun, but to you can help an academic study about reading preferences – and tell us what you really think of recently published novels – by taking part in the Big Book Review.)
